Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton, inspected and inaugurated a newly constructed road measuring 2320 feet long and 14 feet wide leading to St. Joseph University at Ikishe in Chümoukedima district on October 21.
Interacting with media persons at St Joseph University premises, Patton said that he had fulfilled his commitment, which was made during the first University convocation programme held in the month of March 2022 as the special guest.
Patton informed that the road construction cost a total of INR 18,3200. He added that good road was needed for the students as they had to traverse on muddy roads and get their clothes soiled before arriving at the university.
When asked about on the assurance for establishing a police station near the campus, Patton informed that the construction of the police station near Nagaland Cricket Stadium located at Sovima has already completed and proposed to be inaugurated on October 22. He, however, informed that the programme was postponed due to the commemoration of ‘Police commemoration Day.’
He went on to say that the police station would be inaugurated in the first week of November in the present of Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio.
When asked about the proposed Prime Minister’s visit to Nagaland on October 28, Patton informed that the former has not confirmed yet. He, however, expressed hope that Modi would come to Nagaland after his visit to Arunachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the university's dean of students has expressed gratitude to the deputy chief minister for construction of the road.
