  • KOHIMA  — Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton will be part of the official Indian delegation attending the inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City on May 18.

  • According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Indian delegation will be led by Harivansh, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
  •  
  • Sharing the news on social media, Patton wrote, “Deeply honoured to represent our nation as part of the official Indian delegation attending the inauguration ceremony of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City on 18 May 2025.”

  • He expressed gratitude to the government of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the gesture reflects not only India’s rich tradition of mutual respect among faiths but also the country’s commitment to global dialogue and understanding.

  • The Holy See Press Office had earlier announced that the inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV will be held at St. Peter’s Square on Sunday, May 18, at 10 am Rome time.
