Dimapur, November 8 : The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has accused the DAN government in Nagaland of failing to provide basic necessities - road, electricity, water and salary - to its people even after remaining in power for three consecutive terms.
Addressing media persons here on Tuesday, NCP national secretary-cum-spokesperson Narendra Verma said the road condition in Nagaland is the worst in the country and added that it is ‘unbelievable’.
Verma said his visit to the Northeast is intended to revamp the NCP which he claimed is a stronghold of the party after Maharashtra. Stating that development of north eastern states has always been the priority of the NCP, Verma asserted that the party was not losing its presence in Nagaland. He said NCP is very much in place in the State and added that revamp of the party is in process.
Verma also announced that NCP president Sharad Pawar will visit the north eastern states soon and see that prospective women candidates get a good share in the coming elections.
Taking a jibe at BJP’s policy, he said the BJP conveys only ‘big talks’ so does the State Government without bringing in any development.
Terming the defection of MLAs in Nagaland as a “trend”, Verma said: “NCP is here with commitment and will address developmental issues with ground reality by taking stock of the situation and doing survey constituency wise.”
Former State NCP president Neiba Ndang reiterated that the State Veterinary College was initiated by the then Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar and Tuli Paper Mill revival by the then minister of heavy industries & public enterprises Praful Patel. Stating that the NCP is for development of the people, Ndang said the whole idea of Verma’s visit to Nagaland is to see that the affairs of the party are ‘very much in place’.
