DIMAPUR — In light of positive cases of lumpy skin disease (LDS) being detected in four districts, Nagaland has been officially declared as an LDS-positive state.
The declaration was made in accordance with "The Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in Animals Act, 2009", said an update from DIPR.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]‘The Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, in consultation with the concerned state government department, will enforce all necessary preventive measures as per the advisory and guidelines issued by the government of India, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, New Delhi,’ it added.
LDS is an infectious disease in cattle caused by the Neethling virus and transmitted by insects like flies, mosquitoes and ticks. Its symptoms include fever, enlarged lymph nodes and multiple nodules on the skin, and can be fatal.
