Nagaland won seven gold medals to emerge overall champions at the 14th Senior National Pencak Silat Championship in Shillong

DIMAPUR — Nagaland emerged as the overall team champions at the 14th Senior National Pencak Silat Championship 2026, clinching seven gold, two silver and one bronze medal during the three-day competition held at the SAI Training Centre Indoor Stadium, NEHU Campus, Shillong, Meghalaya, from July 6 to 8.
A press release informed that the Nagaland contingent finished atop the standings with a total of 10 medals, ahead of hosts Meghalaya, who finished runners-up, while the Indian Police secured the second runners-up position.
In the Tanding category, Nagaland won six gold medals through Kevin, Jon, Kitenlo K Thono, Liike Kibmi, Avikali V Sheqi and Kuhoshi Sumi, while Viloka Chophy claimed a silver medal.
Nagaland added another gold in the Women's Artistic Regu event, where Avikali V Sheqi, Liike Kibmi and Hatneinem Khongsai delivered a title-winning performance.
The state also secured a silver medal in the Men's Artistic Regu event through Kevin, Jon and Sumit Kalita. Kevin further added a bronze medal in the Creative Male Solo event.
The championship featured around 1,200 athletes representing all states and Union Territories, along with teams from the Indian Police, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Assam Rifles, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the Indian Navy, making it one of the largest editions of the national championship.
