Nagaland Cricket Association conducts four-day umpire course for 25 candidates at Sovima.
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Cricket Association conducted a four-day umpire course from September 7 to the 10th at the Nagaland Cricket Academy in Sovima, Chümoukedima, aimed at strengthening the match officiating ecosystem in the state.
A total of 25 candidates from various districts across Nagaland participated in the training programme, according to an update.
The course was conducted by Jayapal P, a Board of Control for Cricket in India-qualified umpire, who provided participants with instruction on the technical and practical aspects of cricket umpiring.
The programme focused on developing participants' understanding of the Laws of Cricket, umpiring procedures, decision-making, match situations, and the responsibilities of match officials.
According to the association, the initiative is part of an ongoing focus on capacity building, cricket infrastructure development, and human resources to establish a pool of qualified match officials across Nagaland.
