Dimapur, June 6 (EMN): The Covid-19 cases in Nagaland breached 100-mark on Saturday with 13 more returnees from Chennai tested positive for the virus at the bio-safety level-3 (BSL-3) virology laboratory in Kohima.
The total number of active Covid-19 cases in Nagaland now stands at 107.
This was informed by Health minister S Pangnyu Phom through a social media update on Saturday morning.
'13 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the last 24 hours out of the 252 samples tested. All the samples tested were from Chennai returnees,' the minister tweeted.
Nagaland recorded its first Covid-19 positive case on May 25 after three returnees from Chennai were tested positive for the virus.
The total number of Covid-19 cases increased in the subsequent days as more test results were declared, crossing 50-mark on June 3, with the tally standing at 58.
The state then recorded its highest single-day spike in the number of cases as 22 returnees from Chennai tested positive for the virus on June 4, taking the total tally to 80. The numbers reached 94 as 14 more cases were detected on June 5.
