Dimapur, June 22 (EMN): Nagaland has recorded the highest single-day spike in the number of positive cases as 69 returnees tested positive for the virus on Monday, June 22 taking the total number of positive cases to 280 in the state.
This was informed by the Minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, through a social media update on Monday morning.
"Out of 275 samples tested, 69 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported. 65 patients from Peren QC, 3 from Dimapur QC and 1 from Zunheboto QC,” the minister tweeted at 9:15 am on Monday morning.
Till date, Health authorities in Nagaland have declared 141 patients as ‘recovered’. As per the Health department’s update, there are 139 active cases in the state and no death till date.
It may be mentioned that Nagaland recorded its first Covid-19 positive cases on May 25 when three returnees tested positive for the virus.
The number of positive cases breached 100-mark as 13 returnees from Chennai tested positive for the virus, taking the state’s tally to 107 on June 6.
Likewise, the number of positive cases crossed the double century as three more returnees tested positive for the virus, taking the total tally to 201 in the state on June 20.
The number of Covid-19 recovered cases in the state reached 100-mark on June 16 as 11 more returnees tested negative for Covid-19 in their second tests on Tuesday, taking the recovery tally to 103 in the state.
As of June 22, Peren has 71 active cases, followed by Mon with 23 active cases; Kohima has 21 active cases; Dimapur has 19 active cases; Turnsang has three active cases and Phek and Zunheboto with one active case each.
