Dimapur, June 16 (EMN): Two more returnees were tested positive for Covid-19 in Nagaland on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 179, informed an official update.
The minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, updated on June 16 that both the new cases were from Kohima quarantine centre.
"Two new cases of Covid-19 +ve have been reported out of 316 samples tested," Phom tweeted on Tuesday morning.
He added that the number of Covid-19 positive cases in the state currently stands at 179, out of which 92 have recovered. The total number of active cases is 87 with no death recorded so far.
It may be mentioned that Nagaland recorded its first Covid-19 positive case on May 25 after three returnees from Chennai were tested positive for the deadly virus.
The north-eastern states, including Nagaland witnessed a huge spike in Covid-19 cases after the Indian government relaxed inter-state movement and Shramik special trains were introduced to allow stranded citizens reach their home states.
