Nagaland contingent participates in 28th All India Forest Sports Meet in Dehradun
Members of the Nagaland Forest Department contingent at the 28th All India Forest Sports Meet in Dehradun on November 12.


DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Forest Department contingent competed in the 28th All India Forest Sports Meet (AIFSM) held in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, from November 12 to the 16th.


According to an update, the event witnessed the participation of 3,390 sportspersons from 42 teams, including 708 women from 30 states, six union territories, and six central teams. The Nagaland team, comprising 11 members, participated in 13 sporting events under various categories.


Of the 13 sporting events participated in, the medal tally was opened by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force Vedpal Singh, who won three medals in shooting: silver in Men Senior Veteran 50m prone, silver in Men Senior Veteran 50m, and bronze in Men Veteran 50m prone.


Bendanginla and Sedevizo Keretsu also secured bronze medals in Badminton Women Veteran Singles and Power Lifting. Besides bagging five medals, the team showed good performance in other sporting events such as table tennis, with Kevichukho Kire moving on to the semi-finals.


Overall, the Nagaland Forest Department, in its third year of participation since its revival after nearly 15 years, put up a commendable performance in various sporting events of national stature.


The national-level sports meet aims to promote physical fitness, sports, and games to foster health, team spirit, and camaraderie among participants from across the country.


The team was led by Vedpal Singh, with Prabhat Kumar, deputy conservator of forests, as the nodal officer and Vivika A Sema, assistant conservator of forests, as the team manager of the state.
