- DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has expressed
concern over what it described as repeated delays by the government of India in
fulfilling its commitments on the Naga political issue.
- In a press
statement issued on Tuesday, the NPCC stated that the recent visit of AK
Mishra, the centre’s interlocutor for the Naga peace talks, has once again
underscored what it called a “longstanding series of broken promises” to the
Naga people.
- It noted
that the Framework Agreement was signed with the NSCN (IM) in 2015, and the
Agreed Position with the Working Committee of the Naga National Political
Groups (WC,NNPG) followed in 2017. However, despite the passage of time, the
government of India “continues to falter in implementing these commitments,”
the party stated.
- The NPCC
appealed to the interlocutor to facilitate the “immediate and sincere
implementation” of the hard-won agreements. “It is imperative that the
long-awaited final political settlement is delivered without further delay, in
honour of the aspirations of the Naga people,” the statement read.
