Dimapur, May 8 (EMN): The Nagaland Congress has once again alleged anomalies in the procedure of appointments made to government offices – this time within the department of Rural Development. The party issued a press release on Monday stating that ‘the nature of appointment in RD department over the years up to’ November 17, 2016 was ‘highly questionable and challengeable’. It furnished ‘facts and figures of such appointments’ made available by said department in response to RTI query. According to the statement, the percentage of ‘direct appointment’ in said department stood at: (BOX) 1. Out of total 640 Regularized Employees, from the post of SO-I down to Steno Gr-III, appointments were done in following manner: - 12% through interview - 0.9% through combined exam - 0.4% through NPSC - 2% through other process (deputation/absorption) - 85% were direct appointments 2. 100% direct appointment in the case of 316 Contractual Employees; 613 were appointed within 2010-2016 and only 3 prior to 2010. 3. 90% in Longleng District 4. 88% in Mon District 5. 87% in Mokokchung District 6. 87% in Dimapur District 7. 85% in Office of the Directorate 8. 84% in Tuensang District 9. 80% in Kiphire District 10. 79% in Phek District 11. 79% in Zunheboto District 12. 79% in Peren District 13. 76% in Wokha District 14. 75% in Kohima District On the whole, it stated, 85% of total employees in the state were directly appointed. “8.3% only were appointed through interview, combined exam and NPSC. 7% were appointed through deputation/absorption etc,” the party stated. According to the party: “This 85% direct appointment + 7% deputation together is mainly minister’s & parliamentary secretary’s candidates, thereby leaving only 8% provision for few qualified and deserving candidates. “NLC will take on the government/department with related issues at appropriate time; meantime the party will continue to feed uninformed citizens with facts and figures on questionable and challengeable appointments in major departments in the state”.
