Dimapur, May 31 (EMN): The Nagaland Congress has once again released RTI findings alleging “questionable appointments” made by the state government – on this occasion, the much-maligned department of School Education.
“As of 26th April 2017, RTI information (sic) reveals there are total 24400 employees in the department, out of which about 20538 (84%) are teaching employees and 3862 (16%) are non-teaching employees. Most were directly or politically appointed”, stated a press release issued by the party on Wednesday.

“Education is not just another discipline like police recruitment where 71% of total employees is under-Matriculate. Qualified manpower is mandatory for quality education but state government is exploiting children’s education as genie (sic) pigs for mass employment of under qualified/unqualified/doubtful candidates.
“This is main reason why most government schools are faring very poor in successive board exams till date. Another highly suspicious issue is appointment of bogus, ghost and proxy employees. Despite this glaring revelation government, as usual is not likely to react. Therefore, NLC appeals tribal bodies, educated unemployed association, conscious NGOs and individuals of concerned district to seriously investigate the authenticity or otherwise of questionable teachers’ appointment”, it stated.
As of May 31, 2016, it pointed out, there were “3795 MA/MSc and 19988 BA/BSc job seekers” registered with the state’s employment office. “What is the government’s road map for this potential force of educated unemployed youth?” it wondered.
