Dimapur, Dec 18: Barely 5 five days away for Christmas, Nagaland Congress (NC) has questioned the silence of DAN government on anti-Christian issues adopted by BJP government in declaring ‘Good Governance Day’ on Christmas Day, ‘Judges Day’ on Good Friday and ‘Yoga Day’ on Father’s Day and termed that ‘Silence of DAN Government on anti Christian issues is no less anti Christianity.’
‘This offensive arrangement was done not accidentally or thoughtlessly but intentionally on Hindutva mission to dissuade and thereby finish off every Christian related event or practice in land of future Hindustan,’ Nagaland Congress media cell said in a press statement.
Noting that DAN Government was not unaware of the recent development, it alleged the government was least bothered to raise any finger on such sensitive religious issue that otherwise might displease their BJP masters and affect material benefits. NC said it was a shame that Nagaland declared “Nagaland For Christ” with 60 Christian elected members, who with support from their church and members, lose the guts to speak out boldly for their faith guaranteed under the Fundamental Rights.
If DAN Government cannot protect our faith which is constitutionally guaranteed under Art 25 or resist Uniform Civil Code which is anti thesis to the special provision of Art 371(A) (i) (a) (i) or if government remains silent there is no moral and political justification for it to remain in power, NC statement said.
Alleging that BJP’s wider politics was one nation one culture, one nation one religion, NC said it will go all out to defend its religious freedom if any leader or any party cannot protect or intents to compromise religion for power, greed or idealism.
Meanwhile, Nagaland Congress has reaffirmed to stand with churches, civil bodies and conscious individuals who have seriously questioned the silence and indifference attitude of the State government.
