DIMAPUR, JANUARY 22
NPCC president, K. Therie addressing the public attending the ‘NPCC mass contact tour’ at Phek said that the imbroglio involving the 8 Congress MLAs had come to the present juncture because they failed to uphold the party’s social, secular and democratic principles and ideologies. K Therie said that despite the party making its stand clear time and again that it cannot be a partner with BJP because of their opposing ideologies and principles, they had ignored the directives of the AICC and joined the NPF led BJP-DAN government. Adding that all the 60 MLAs of NLA have come together citing the Naga issue, he said they had however come together only for 30minutes. Therie said that during the 60 years of Congress rule, the nation has never been divided by religion, caste, tribe and food, the way it has been today. The NPCC president also said that during BJP rule, churches were burnt down, Christians were persecuted and temples were built in place of churches. He also said that the people had given their mandate and voted the NPF to power but the reward they were given is no roads, no power, no water, no infrastructure and successive deficit budgets.
Highlighting the NPCC roadmap, Therie dwelt on various welfare schemes and development plans. He called on the people to read the roadmap and that if they want the change, they should join hands with the Congress and march forward. Saying that the party is willing to work with like-minded people for a common future, Therie appealed to the all reverends, pastors and Intellectuals to educate the masses so that ‘God-fearing leaders’ are elected in the future.
