Dimapur, July 25 (EMN): Accusing the BJP of cheating the people with false promises and bringing the economy of the nation to its knee, president of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), K Therie, stated that a time for change had arrived and expressed confidence that the Congress party would emerged victorious in various state elections to be held next year.
Therie stated this while addressing an extended executive meeting of the Phek District Congress Committee (PDCC) held at Pfutsero on July 24. He also challenged the members to work hard and indoctrinate the people to practice and treasure the traditional ethical values in politics in line with Christian’s faith.
“When Hindus can openly propagate, support and vote for the Hindutva ideology of BJP, why Christian can't propagate or vote for a party based on its ideology if it doesn’t conflict with the Christian teachings,” Therie asked.
Meanwhile, he stated that the Congress party would stand to honour and push for an early solution to the protracted Naga political issue. He said it is only a matter of, either the council of ministers deciding and advising the Governor or all 60 legislators resigning and paving the way to implement the agreed points on which talks were concluded, but that has not happened.
A PDCC’s statement issued by its general secretary, Rilo Therie, stated the meeting resolved to endorse the NPCC (PAC) decision and urged the Governor to implement it at the earliest.
Also speaking in the meeting, NPCC vice president and chairman of Kissan Cell, V Lasuh, stated that the Congress party has a special affection for Phek district. He appreciated the members for their loyalty and convictions in Congress ideology. He further urged the members to enrol under Kissan Cell to avail various benefits.
The meeting was chaired by PDCC president, Khosapa Venuh, in which Kedoutsolhi Wetsa, NPCC secretary, and various district functionaries also spoke in the meeting.
