Nagaland has completed 407 irrigation projects under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, ranking third among the northeastern states.
DIMAPUR — Nagaland has completed 407 irrigation projects under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY), with the state implementing 663 projects under the Surface Minor Irrigation (SMI) and Repair, Renovation and Restoration (RRR) components of the scheme as of May 2026.
This was informed by the Minister of Jal Shakti, CR Patil, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on July 30. According to the Minister, among the northeastern states, Assam has the highest number of projects under the SMI and RRR components, with 1,119 projects, of which 652 have been completed. Arunachal Pradesh follows with 1,097 projects, including 770 completed projects.
Manipur has 481 projects under the two components, with 477 completed, while Sikkim has 465 projects, of which 234 have been completed. Meghalaya has 238 projects, including 135 completed, while Tripura has 58 projects, of which 37 have been completed. Mizoram has 45 projects, with 30 completed.
The data shows that Nagaland's 407 completed projects place it third among the eight northeastern states, behind Arunachal Pradesh with 770 completed projects and Assam with 652.

The PMKSY is an umbrella scheme launched in 2015-16 to improve irrigation coverage and promote efficient water management. The two major components being implemented by the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti are AIBP and Har Khet Ko Pani (HKKP).
Under HKKP, the department is implementing Command Area Development & Water Management (CAD&WM), SMI and RRR of water bodies. The CAD&WM component is being implemented alongside AIBP.
Across the country, 8,338 projects have been taken up under SMI and RRR, of which 5,414 have been completed.
