KOHIMA — Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio inaugurated new Putuonuo Hospital complex at Daklane in Kohima, as the health facility celebrated its 34th anniversary on Saturday.
Speaking during the occasion, Rio expressed delight over inaugurating the new state-of-the-art complex of the family-run hospital, which was initially founded as a nursing home on July 6, 1990. He noted that the hospital has a rich history as the first private inpatient medical facility in Kohima.
“Thirty four years ago, this hospital opened its doors with a pioneering spirit, providing our town with private inpatient medical care for the first time. Since then, it has grown and evolved, always maintaining its commitment to patient-centred care and community well-being,” said Rio.
This is not just a new building, but a legacy of care, dedication and community service, he added.
Lauding the founding family's vision and hard work in creating a place where countless lives have been touched, healed, and improved, he said their dedication to the community has left an indelible mark, describing the new complex as a testament to the unwavering dedication of the founders, staff and the entire community, as well as the commitment to proving the highest standard of care.
He reminded the hospital staff that their compassion, professionalism and hard work are the heart and soul of the institution. He added that their care for patients with dedication and empathy creates a place where people feel supported and valued, and their commitment to excellence continues to inspire all.
Furthermore, Rio stated that the inauguration of the new complex has also opened doors to a future filled with promise and potential, while expressing confidence that the hospital will continue to provide exceptional healthcare to every member of the community.
Managing Director of Putuonuo Hospital, Dr. Kezevituo Keditsu, recounted the inception of the hospital on July 6, 1990, after he resigned from government service.
He mentioned that the hospital was named in memory of his late mother and it has thrived over the years to reach its current milestone.
Dr Theyiesinuo Keditsu led the programme, while Dr Thejavinuo Keditsu Kire, Medical Director of Putunuo Hospital, proposed the vote of thanks.
To mark the occasion, Chief Minister Rio also unveiled a monolith earlier in the event.
