DIMAPUR — Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio inaugurated the Botsa branch of Bank of Baroda (BoB)  on Saturday in the presence of General Manager and Zonal Head Kolkata Zone, Debadrata Das; Network DGM, Kolkata Zone,  Debashis Bakshi and Deputy General Manager and Regional Head, Jorhat, Chandan Sahoo.

Speaking during the inauguration, Rio said BoB was doing a ‘great job’ next to the State Bank of India in Nagaland and extended gratitude to its officials for bringing the Botsa branch, which is the first branch in his constituency for the benefit of the people.

He called upon the people in the area to grab the opportunity by opening new accounts and availing the benefits provided by the bank under the national policy programme and various schemes, an update from DIPR stated.

Stating that financial institutions play a vital role in the growth of the economy, Rio expressed hope that the branch will bring progress towards the economic growth of the area.

He said that the villagers, farmers and business community should develop bank culture for any business activity; while every individual has to build a relationship with banks as transactions such as payment of government's servant salary and students’ scholarship are made through bank accounts as per the government's policy.

Rio said the Bank of Baroda now has 14 branches in the state and further requested it to reach out to all the blocks and extend its services to the people in need.

He expressed hope that through the bank, the economy will improve and the ‘living standard of the earning section will improve from minor to medium to become a real-time business’. Rio further called upon the villages to extend cooperation to the bank and also assured to support it from the government level.

Debadrata Das, in his short speech, encouraged the people to consider this branch as their lifeline and open an account to avail all the benefits provided by the bank. He also appraised the gathering on various loans and facilities available for the welfare of the community.

Advisor to Chief Minister and Nagaland of Khadi and Village Industries Board Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu; Commissioner and Secretary to Chief Minister, Kesonyü Yhome; government officials, village chairmen and council members of the adjoining villages and others attended the inaugural programme.
