- DIMAPUR — Former
champions Aphuyemi FC (Zunheboto) won the 4th edition of the Nagaland Futsal
Club Championship (NFCC) after defeating defending champions Nyenshen FC
(Tuensang) 7–4 in a gripping encounter on March 22.
- The match, played at the Futsal Centre, Regional Centre for
Sporting Excellence, Chümoukedima, showcased fast-paced futsal action, tactical
brilliance and high-level competitiveness from both sides, an update stated.
- Aphuyemi FC’s attacking prowess and composure under pressure
secured their place as champions of the 2025 edition, to represent the state in
this year’s edition of the national tournament.
- The champion team walked away with a cash prize of INR 1
lakh while the runner-up team was awarded INR. 50,000.
- Earlier, before the final match, the formal closing ceremony
was held with Dr. Watizulu Jamir, chairman of the Development Authority of
Nagaland (DAN) and vice president of Badminton Association of India (BAI), as
special guest.
- In his speech, Jamir highlighted the importance of sports in
youth development and state-building.
- The programme featured welcome address by Mughato Aye, vice
president of Nagaland Football Association (NFA), a special performance by T
Wongyinla Yimkhiung, and benediction by Tali Moa Jamir, associate pastor
(Youth), Ao Baptist Church Diphupar-A.
- Imli Sunup, joint secretary of NFA and co-convener of NFCC,
chaired the closing event.
- “Organised under the aegis of the NFA, the tournament
continues to grow in scale and impact each year, serving as a platform for
discovering and nurturing futsal talent across the state. With participation
from top clubs across Nagaland, this year’s edition has set a new benchmark for
competitive futsal in the region,” it stated.
