- KOHIMA — Elaborating
on the power of cinema, the joint director of Information and Public Relations,
Asangla Imsong, said cinema has profound ability to transform the society as
each story and character sparks thoughts and emotions.
- She was speaking during the valedictory programme of the
Nagaland CineFest 2025 on Saturday held at The Heritage, Old DC Bangalow,
Kohima. The two-day event was organised by the Directorate of Information and
Public Relation (DIPR), in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and
Broadcasting, on the theme "Celebrating stories, Inspiring minds."
- She also expressed hope that the participants and students
have learnt from the expertise of the resource persons during the
masterclasses. She further asked everyone to continue to see cinema as a
reflection of who they are.
- Imkong L Imchen, advisor of DIPR, Soil and Water
Conservation, also shared a message that the Nagaland CineFest 2025 is a
platform to introduce audiences to diverse films, encourage discussion and
inspire aspiring filmmakers.
- He added that the festival was expected to ignite a deeper
interest in cinema and story-telling with curated selection of films from the
northeast and beyond India.
- Earlier, Temsunaro Aier, commissioner and secretary of DIPR,
mentioned that the festival was expected to inspire creativity, spark
meaningful conversation and lay the foundation for a thriving film culture in
Nagaland. She expressed hope that the CineFest would encourage the emerging
generation to learn the art of depiction through a combination of compelling
dialogues, expressive costumes, art and music.
