MOKOKCHUNG — The Chungtia Students’ Union (CSU) on Thursday issued a five-day ultimatum to the principal director of Health and Family Welfare, demanding immediate action on a deficient technical test report for the proposed 50-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Sabangya in Mokokchung district.
In a letter, the CSU expressed dissatisfaction with the report, dated September 29, 2025, prepared by the executive engineer of the Medical Engineering Division, Kohima.
The union highlighted the report’s incompleteness, particularly noting a structural beam rated as “poor and doubtful” and the absence of clear justification for the concrete core compressive strength results.
These shortcomings, it stated, raise serious concerns about construction quality and indicate unprofessionalism on the part of the contractor, Northeast Engineers.
The letter recalled a consensus reached on September 11, 2025, during a meeting involving the CSU, Chungtia Village Council, KC Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd., and departmental representatives, which stipulated a joint follow-up session upon receipt of the test results.
However, more than nine days after the report’s issuance, no such meeting has been convened, and repeated attempts by the CSU to engage the department have been met with silence and no official response.
“We shall be compelled to initiate our own course of action, for which we will not be deemed liable for any consequences thereof,” the CSU warned, highlighting the urgency for resolution within five days.
