
The grand finale of Nagaland Choir Olympics under the aegis of Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) will take place on Oct. 23 at RCEMPA, Jotsoma from 5:00 pm onwards.
An update issued on Oct. 11 informed that TaFMA after conducting auditions in all the districts with event partners selected 10 best choirs (one each from each district).
For the grand finale, there will be two rounds of performances. In each round, choirs will present one song each.
Director of Aroha Choir, Shillong, Pauline Warjri is said to be the chief judge.
The best choir will receive a cash prize of INR 1 lakh along with a trophy. While the first and second runners-up will get INR 50,000 and INR 25,000 respectively.
Further, on Oct. 24, there will be another audition for all the 10 participating choirs to select a choir for Nagaland, and efforts will be made to participate in the World Choir Games to be held in Belgium next year.
The event is being managed by Musicians Guild, Nagaland.
“Choral music is a big part of our DNA and heritage, and the event is being organised to acknowledge and promote choral music at a professional level, which we believe will enable and prepare our singers to participate in national and international platforms in future, ” said TaFMA advisor Theja Meru.
