Dimapur, May 27 (EMN): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has expressed grief over the demise of Dr. Kevichusa Medikhrü, retired Principal Director of Health and Family Welfare at Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), Dimapur, on Thursday night.
Dr. Medikhrü joined government service as Assistant Surgeon at Naga Hospital, Kohima in 1986 and held many important assignments such as State Programme Officer of NHRM, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Nodal Officer of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme as well as Health Intelligence Bureau, besides postings in the field and in the Directorates, informed Rio in his condolence message.
He retired from service as Principal Director of Health department in April 2021.
“Due to his hard work and effective management of the various programmes in which he was the nodal officer, and also in his capacity as the Principal Director of the Department, the possible outbreak of many dangerous diseases such as SARS, Avian Flu, HINI and COVID-19 were either prevented or controlled effectively,” read the condolence message.
“His death is a great loss for the State in general, and for the Chakhesang community in particular. However, his good works and contributions will continue to inspire many, especially the medical fraternity of Nagaland.
“I convey my heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family, as well as to the medical fraternity in Nagaland. May his soul rest in peace,” it added.
