DIMAPUR — The
Central Administrative Works Department (CAWD) Nagaland has completed 30
projects over a span of 4 years, such as the construction of DC office
complexes in Phek and Mokokchung and DC bungalows at Tuensang, Phek, Wokha, and
Kiphire.
This was informed by the Assistant Chief Engineer of CAWD
Nagaland, Sungtiba Amer, during a press conference held at DC office complex in
Chümoukedima on Friday.
Amer mentioned that CAWD is the executing agency overseeing
all the construction works under General Administration. In addition to this,
CAWD looks after departments such as Law & Justice, Border Affairs, Village
Guard, Election, NSO and spillover works of Treasury & Accounts, and CPMF
(CRPF).
He shared that the state has 17 deputy commissioner’s
headquarters—the latest in Meluri district tentatively slated to be inaugurated
on February 21, 2025. Besides the DC headquarters, they have 24 ADC
headquarters, 17 SDO (C) and 65 EAC headquarters all over the state, he added.
Amer informed that the state has approximately 1,588
functional and non-functional buildings under General Administration.
He expressed gratitude to the government of Nagaland,
especially the chief minister, for giving utmost importance to the General
Administration, for giving the CAWD sufficient grants to construct and complete
around 30 projects over a span of 4 years, and a good number of ADC office
complexes, SDO(C) and EAC offices and residences, and GA rest houses, including
the chief secretary's residential conference hall at Kohima.
In addition to this, the CAWD is currently constructing 14
pre-engineered residential structures for 13 EACs and one ADC headquarters as a
pilot project for various administrative headquarters. The works are
progressing well, he informed.
According to him, the CAWD is constructing DC office complex
at Zunheboto, Tuensang, Noklak, Shamator, Niuland, and Tseminyu, while a DC
office complex at Dimapur is in the pipeline, with the project already being
sanctioned.
The DC bungalow at Mokokchung, ADC office complex at
Akuluto, GA rest house at Longleng, ADC residence at Chozuba are on the verge
of completion and will be inaugurated within this current financial year, he
informed.
Furthermore, he mentioned that a state-of-the-art circuit
house at Chümoukedima has been sanctioned, with works scheduled to be taken up
within the first week of February. The circuit house will be adjacent to the
Sammogooting Stadium.
He informed that outside the General Administration, the
CAWD has constructed and inaugurated the respective district courts of Wokha,
Tuensang, and Zunheboto; judicial officers’ flat at Mon and Mokokchung; Village
Guard rest house at Thizama; the District Jail at Longleng; and the Nagaland
Olympic Association office complex at Kohima.
Currently, the CAWD is constructing District Courts at Mon
and Noklak, flat-type quarters for Law Officers at Kohima, and flat-type
officers and staff quarters for Border Affairs at Meriema, which is said to be
nearing completion.
The department is also constructing the first-ever Village
Guard Commandant office at Tuensang and Village Guard Training Centre at
Sangphur in Shamator district.
He added that the CAWD has completed the EVMs and VVPATs
warehouse of the Election Department in almost all the districts. Also, the
department is involved as an executing agency for constructing and maintaining
all the semi-permanent and temporary structures of the CPMF (CRPF) centres all
over the state.
