
Startup Nagaland under the department of Industries and Commerce celebrated the National Startup Day on January 16 at YouthNet Incubation Centre in Dimapur by organising a session and product exhibition for startups and entrepreneurs from Nagaland.
Delivering the welcome address, Keneirienuo K Theunuo, assistant director (Tech) and Team Leader from the department of Industries and Commerce, stated that Startup Nagaland aims to promote and encourage the startup culture in the state. She also hinted on the Startup India initiative, which was announced by the Prime Minister of India in 2016 which aimed at building a strong ecosystem for nurturing innovation and Startups in the country that would drive sustainable economic growth and generate huge employment opportunities, an update from YouthNet stated.
In his keynote address, the joint director of Industries and Commerce, Y Lipongse Thongtsar, has stressed on building a strong ecosystem for nurturing innovation in the state in order to scale larger degree. He further emphasised on simplification and handholding support.
Five incubators in the state namely YouthNet Incubation Centre, EduCentre School of Business, Nagaland Tool Room and Training Centre, National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology, and NAGABOTS have shared on their journey as incubators.
The programme was chaired by Neikepekho Shosahie, manager of YIC, while Ilandlo Services Pvt. Ltd. shared their startup experience and concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Lezo Putsure, CEO of EduCentre.
It mentioned that Startup Nagaland, in collaboration with entrepreneurs and key ecosystem stakeholders across the length and breadth of the state, has organised the National Startup Day with an aim to honour the extraordinary contributions and achievements of Naga entrepreneurs in shaping the startup landscape of Nagaland.
