
NCYM officials and youth leaders during the ‘Leaders Meet
2025’ at Mt. Tabor Retreat House in Kohima on Sunday.
- DIMAPUR — The
central executive committee of the Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM) has
worked out modalities to address challenges faced by the youth leaders in
diocese as well as in parishes/ centres.
- The problems of youth leaders in diocese and parishes were
discussed during a three-day ‘Leaders Meet 2025’ of the NCYM for youth leaders
of the parishes/ centres and affiliated tribal units held from January 31 to
February 2 at Mt. Tabor Retreat House in Kohima on the theme "Meet, greet
and inspire: A leadership gathering."
- An update from NCYM stated that renowned resource persons
have enlightened the youth leaders on Catholic faith, rich history and
traditions, essence of leadership and navigating life as a Catholic youth,
overview of NCYM and the role of its affiliated units during the event. It
added that the participants were enriched through inspiring life testimonials
on the subject.
- In addition to the informative and stimulating sessions,
group discussions and presentations were carried out by the participants on the
challenges faced by the youth in the parishes/ centres. During the meet, the
central executive committee discussed on pertinent issues and decided to come
out with plans to overcome those challenges.
- It stated that activities reports carried out in their
respective parishes/ centres/ tribal units were presented by 28 parishes/
centres and two tribal units namely Zeliangrong Catholic Youth Association
Nagaland and Lotha Catholic Youth Association.
- The main celebrants of the Leaders Meet were Rev. Fr. Dr.
Jacob Charalel, chancellor at Diocese of Kohima, and Rev. Fr. Gwatilo Alex Tep,
bishop's secretary.
- The prominent resource persons were Rev. Fr. Kokto Kurian,
director of NCYM; Teisovi Gerard Meyase, secretary general of CAN; Dr. John
Murry, treasurer of NDPP; Jonas Yanthan, advisor of CAN; Dr. John
Seyiekhrietuo, president of Angami Catholic Union; Hetoli Marina, former
president of NCWA; Rev. Sr. Dr. K Katini, assistant professor at SJC
(Autonomous) and Zhovi Peter Dukru, former spokesperson of NCYM.
