DIMAPUR — The Confederation of All Nagaland State Service Employees’ Association (CANSSEA) has announced that it will observe a statewide sit-in on September 23 in support of the 11-point charter of demands put forward by the All India State Government Employees Federation (AISGEF).
According to a statement from the association on Friday, the central body of CANSSEA will hold the protest at its office complex in Kohima, while district units will observe the dharna at their respective district headquarters.
The demands include repeal of the four labour codes and the PFRDA Act, scrapping of the NPS/UPS, and bringing all subscribers under the Defined Benefit Pension System.
The charter also calls for regularisation of all contractual employees and putting an end to contractual, outsourced or daily wage employment; filling of vacancies in government departments and PSUs; stopping privatisation and corporatisation of PSUs and downsizing of government departments; and constitution of the 8th Central Pay Commission to ensure pay revision every five years.
Other demands include the release of pending and withheld DA instalments, a comprehensive health insurance scheme covering employees and pensioners including contractual staff, scrapping of the National Education Policy, repeal of Articles 310 and 311(2) a, b & c of the Constitution, safeguarding secularism, and redefining Centre–state financial relations to protect cooperative federalism.
The CANSSEA stated that it fully supports the AISGEF’s charter of demands submitted to the Union government and reiterated that it will continue to press for these issues until they are fulfilled.
