Nagaland Governor notifies the establishment and operationalisation of the State Water Informatics Centre under the National Hydrology Project to standardise state water resources data.
DIMAPUR — The Governor of Nagaland has notified the establishment and operationalisation of the State Water Informatics Centre (SWIC) under the National Hydrology Project (NHP), implemented by the Department of Water Resources, Government of Nagaland, with immediate effect.
According to a DIPR report, the SWIC will be responsible for collection of state water resources data from various data-generating organisations and departments and for its standardisation in accordance with the scheme defined by the National Water Informatics Centre (NWIC).
The centre will be manned by the existing officers and staff of the Department of Water Resources under the charge of the superintending engineer in-charge of NHP.
The notification further stated that additional manpower may be provided as and when required, depending on the expansion of the scope of work of the SWIC.
The establishment and operationalisation of the SWIC was approved by the State Cabinet on August 21. It is also in compliance with the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) dated July 7, 2022, signed between the National Water Informatics Centre (NWIC) and Water Resources Department, Nagaland.
