The Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board held a district-level social audit hearing in Kohima.

DIMAPUR — A district-level social audit public hearing under the Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) Scheme for the financial year 2024-25 was convened by the Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (NBOCWWB), Labour department.
According to an update, it was conducted in collaboration with the Nagaland State Social Audit Agency (NSSAA), Social Audit Unit Nagaland at the Labour Commissioner's conference hall in Kohima on Monday.
Altogether, six urban local bodies and six villages were audited in Kohima district. The urban areas included AG Colony, Agri Colony, Kenouzou, New Market, Midland, and High School, while the rural areas were Zhadima, Dihoma, Nerhema, Chiephobozou, Botsa, and Chiechama.
Neimenuo, Assistant Labour Commissioner of Kohima, chaired the hearing, while Imlirenla Sanglir, Assistant Director of NSSAA, Social Audit Unit Nagaland, briefed on the significance and importance of the social audit under the BOCW scheme in her introductory speech.
Social audit resource persons Imsusenla Longchar, district resource person, and Vekuyhieto Venyo, block resource person, presented the findings of the social audit, which were reviewed during the hearing. Issues regarding the receipt of claims, renewal of identity cards, new registration, proper bookkeeping, and adherence to guidelines were highlighted.
The hearing was presided over by a panel comprising Neimenuo; Thooadu Domeh, member of the state BOCW Welfare Board; Nune’s Construction CEO Nunere Sale, who represented the Ward II councillor of Kohima; Zekuseto Natso, Welfare Secretary of the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO); Thepfukhrietuo Rupreo, Finance Secretary of AYO; and Kelhousatuo, representative of BOCW workers.
Following resolutions were adopted to take corrective measures: sensitising the beneficiaries about BOCW benefits, rights, and entitlements; setting up common service centres for the beneficiaries; proper bookkeeping where all required statutory records are to be maintained; registered establishments under NBOCWWB to maintain all required statutory records as per the guidelines; adherence to guidelines on the implementation of the BOCW scheme; and open Action Taken Reports (ATRs) to be addressed on or before April 15, 2026.
