NBSE notifies schools of 117 new language primers, including 17 Naga languages, to support foundational learning under NEP 2020.

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has notified all registered institutions under its jurisdiction about the release of 117 language primers, including those in several Naga languages, developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi.
According to a circular dated July 5, the primers were developed in collaboration with the Central University of Odisha, Koraput, and the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore, under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

The newly developed primers are part of a broader initiative to support foundational learning as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage (NCF-FS).
These materials are specifically designed to aid children between the ages of 3 and 8 in learning through their mother tongue, home language, or local language.
Among the Naga languages included in the primer series are Angami, Ao, Chang, Chokri, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Kuki, Kuzhale (Khezha), Liangmei, Lotha, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sangtam, Sumi (Sema), Yimkhiung (Yimchunger), and Zeme.
