Kohima, July 28 (EMN): High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) topper Keneino Thorie from Trinity School in Kohima on Wednesday received praises from her school administration for her feat during an unprecedented time that had affected students in the most unusual way.
'Coming out as top one in these turbulent times of pandemic is not easy. It takes extraordinary effort and her achievement will be treasured for a very long time,' said the administrator of Trinity School, Kevin Solo, during a felicitation programme accorded to Thorie and other meritorious students from the school.
While her two elder sisters Kesino Thorie and Kethono Thorie were among the HSLC toppers in 2015 and 2019 respectively from the same school, she made it to top one in the recently declared HSLC exams conducted by Nagaland Board of School Examination, securing an overall percentage of 98.50%. She also secured a perfect score in Social Science.
The administrator said the school was fortunate to have three toppers from the Thorie family. The three sisters have become role models for juniors and an inspiration to other students, he observed while lauding them for leaving a legacy behind.
Solo expressed admiration for the level of effort she had put in her studies. 'Her modesty, simplicity, level of discipline and outstanding performances at extracurricular activities are truly admirable,' he said adding that these traits had made the difference.
Located in the extreme south of Kohima, Trinity School could be unfamiliar to most people in the town. However, through her feat, the institution is now known by others, the administrator said while thanking her for bringing laurels to the school.
The school awarded her INR 1 lakh along with a citation and a gift. Besides that, the institute has announced a one-time concession of INR 100 to all the students of Trinity School in her honour.
The administrator further encouraged all qualified students to be mentally prepared to face any sort of challenges in life.
Thorie in her speech shared that she joined Trinity School in 2009 as a grade A student and studied till class 10. To her, teachers were her second parents who had nurtured, motivated and encouraged her in every way. ‘There were ups and downs in the 12-year journey but these made me who I’m today,’ she shared.
She admitted that 2020-21 was challenging due to the pandemic, yet the teachers put their heart and soul to mould the students. She added that hard work, determination, perseverance, and most importantly pleasing God, had helped her secure top one position.
Headmaster of Trinity School, Mathew Tsathong informed that the school was established in 2003 and this year was the 10th batch of HSLC. He wished all the qualified students the best and expressed hope that they would achieve more in their life and careers.
Altogether, 35 students from the school qualified the HSLC examination 2021.
