Dimapur, April 29 (EMN): The Nagaland unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will ‘safeguard the Christian faith,’ the party informed on Saturday. The statement was one of several resolutions that the party said was undertaken during a recent meeting of the unit’s executives.
The 5th State Executive Meeting of the BJP was held on April 28 in Kohima, stated a press release from Jaangsillung Gonmei, spokesperson of the state unit of the BJP.
A number of resolutions were adopted in the meeting. The first resolution stated that the BJP “being a secular political party” was urging support to the “secular credentials” and programmes of the party led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Also, the state’s BJP expressed support to the peace process and urged the central government to ‘expedite an early solution’ to the Naga political issue.
Another resolution also declared that the BJP of Nagaland had resolved to “safeguard the Christian faith.”
On other matters, the party has resolved to “focus and propagate the party development policies and programmes” for the state. Further, the party’s workers have “unanimously resolved to achieve” the party’s goals in the forthcoming state general elections in 2018.
Meanwhile, the party has informed that Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State (independent) for Power, Coal, New and Renewable energy and Mines has scheduled a visit to the state, on Monday, the 1st of May and “hold party meetings.”
