
Dimapur, Aug. 26 (EMN): The deputy chief minister and leader of BJP legislature party, Y Patton, has stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is a secular party that works for the uplift of women, Scheduled Casts and Tribes and Dalits and maintained that any political party or individual branding BJP as anti-Christian was to spread rumours.
Patton stated this during a meeting of the BJP workers and supporters under 13 BJP Pughoboto mandal held at Pughoboto town hall on August 26. While citing an instance on secularism upheld by BJP, Patton stated that only last month a tribal woman was elected as the President of India.
“There has not been any instance where our path has been hindered in the name of religion after BJP became part of the government in Nagaland,” Patton said.
He added that BJP government at the centre under Modi was always keen to develop the Northeast region and Nagaland in particular. He, therefore, urged the party workers to make use of the opportunity and take developmental projects to every parts of the state.
On the candidature of Dr. Sukhato A Sema, Patton has described him as a capable and influential leader from the area. Stating that 13 Pughoboto Assembly Constituency was reserved for BJP even in 2018 elections, he urged the party workers to be committed and ensure victory of its candidate in the ensuing state assembly elections.
He further urged the party workers to work hard and uphold the principles and objectives of BJP under the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modiji.
Also speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sukhato thanked the visiting dignitaries led by the deputy chief minister for attending the programme. He also expressed gratitude to the BJP government under the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for making it a reality that every central assistance and relief programme reached the corner-most regions of the country including his constituency.
