Dimapur, April 4 (EMN): An instant messaging social media application called “Bujulo”, founded by a 23-year-old Naga lad, was officially launched on Monday.
Founder of the app, Hiboka Sumi said during the launching programme that the word “Bujulo” is derived from Sumi dialect meaning ‘touch it’.
Sumi, who did BA from Unity College in Dimapur, had been working with his team on the project for three years.
Speaking about the features of the app, he said the beta version provides facilities like sending of text messages, images, videos and voice messages in chats, sharing stories, shorts videos and live streaming.
He stated that Bujulo will try to evolve as a “super” app in the coming years by including interactive social platforms, social commerce services, transportation, and food delivery in just one app.
He said that with super app, everything from messaging to making payments to shopping while watching short entertaining videos would change.
‘As a start-up, we do not believe in making big plans but we assure our users a superior-user experience over time,’ he said.
While admitting that there could be ‘lots of bugs’, rough IU, lack of animation and filters as the app is still in beta version, he assured that “we will try to better our app and improve our products in the next update”.
He informed that users can expect two features in the next coming month – Meet, a feature that will enable users to choose how they like to add new friends and chat anonymously; another one that will allow users to add filters, stickers and emojis.
He, however, informed that users will not be able to download Bujulo app on both IOS and Android platforms on the launch day due to some technical issues.
“We assure that Android users will be able to download the Bujulo by today or tomorrow (Tuesday) and IOS users by this week,” he said.
Sumi also informed that they were launching a new company. ‘We are also aware of the current difficulties in the tech sector in Nagaland and this will mean that we need to be extra creative and aggressive in our ideas to succeed,’ he said.
President of Dimapur Sumi Council, Kuhoi Zhimomi, who launched the app at Hotel Acacia in Dimapur, lauded the team of young entrepreneurs for coming up with the app. He said that the role of social media has become very important to everyone.
He expressed hope that the new app will bring positive changes in society, spread awareness and help generate employment opportunities for the youths.
