Dimapur, July 19: The Karate Association of Nagaland (KAN) bagged 12 Medals (four Gold, two Silver, six Bronze) in the 3rd North-East open Karate championship held on July 16 and 17 at Guwahati.
Akumienla Imchen from the team also won the best fighter prize in the senior girls’ competition.
Eight participants from the KAN participated in the event. The team was lead by team coach Temsu (black belt 2nd dan) and official Thsathriba T. Sangtam (Black belt 3rd dan). The medallists are Akumienla lmchen (Gold in Sparring),Kivinoli S Aye(Gold in Sparring), Astnarani Bordolto (Gold in Sparring),Lithsamong Sangtam (Silver in Sparring), Tiakumba Sangtam (Bronze in Sparring), Atito S. Sumi (Bronze in Sparring),Huto K. Yeptho (Bronze in Sparring), Hollocali K. Yeptho (Bronze in Sparring), Astharani Bordolio (Gold in Kata), Akumienla lmchen, (Silver in Kata) Lithsamong Sangtam (Bronze in Kata) and Huto K. Yeptho (Bronze in Kata).
