Dimapur, Sep. 16 (EMN): Peren district unit of Agricultural Technology Management Authority (ATMA) conducted a sensitisation programme on “Conservation of fish biodiversity” in Poilwa village on September 13.
Speaking at the programme, Dorothy Yanthan, project director and DFO, informed that the main goal of the programme was to conserve the genetic diversity. She stated that fish genetic resources could be conserved by protecting an ecosystem which is broad based, on-specific, cost effective and relatively simplistic in approach, stated an update from ATMA Peren.
She added that conservation could be achieved through many mechanisms including in-situ and ex-situ methods. She further expressed her happiness to Daniel Hemang for coming up with the concept on his personal initiative. She added that his sincere endeavour would go a long way to encourage the upcoming generations.
