Nagaland: Atma functionaries trained on advanced practices of sericulture

Dimapur, July 8 (EMN): The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (Sameti) organised an online training programme on “Advanced management practices for sericulture: production, post harvest and value addition” for Atma functionaries at the Sameti office, Medziphema on July 7 and 8.

The training programme was aimed at keeping extension functionaries updated with technical knowledge on sericulture, taking into account its vast scope in Nagaland, stated an update on Wednesday.

Dr. Watimongla Jamir, director of Sameti and principal IETC i/c, said that it was a proud moment for Sameti to conduct its first online training programme since its establishment in 2011. She said that in view of the current Covid-19 situation, such online trainings would continue to be undertaken and hence, encouraged the participants to be ‘techno-savvy’ and familiarise themselves with ICT tools. 

Resource persons for the training were Dr. Pankaj Neog, assistant professor and J Akato Chishi, senior technical assistant from department of Entomology, Nagaland University, SASRD Medziphema.

Topics on production technology and management practices for sericulture, identification of different types of silkworms – cocoons and host plants and post harvest technology were covered.
