Nagaland Athletics Association to organise 2nd Nagaland Cross Country Championships

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA) will organise the 2nd Nagaland Cross Country Championships on December 18 at Ruovi’s The Palm, Model Village 5th Mile, Chümoukedima.


According to a press release, the championship aims to promote long-distance running, identify emerging talent, and select promising athletes to represent Nagaland at the 60th National Cross Country Championships.


It will be organised in accordance with the rules of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).


The competition will be organised in Men, Women, Under 20 Years (Boys and Girls), Under 18 Years (Boys and Girls) and Under 16 Years (Boys and Girls) categories.


The race distances are: Men (10 km), Women (10 km), Under-20 Boys (8 km), Under-20 Girls (6 km), Under-18 Boys (6 km), Under-18 Girls (4 km), Under-16 Boys (2 km), and Under-16 Girls (2 km).


Entries must be submitted online by December 12. The competition fees are INR 300 for senior athletes and INR 200 for junior athletes.

The date of reckoning the age for junior athletes will be January 24, 2026. An athlete can participate in their age group only. All athletes must be registered under the AFI to participate. Entry of athletes below 14 years of age as of January 24, 2026, will not be accepted. AFI-UID and Aadhaar Card shall be mandatory for age and document verification.


The age brackets are as follows: U-20 includes players born between January 25, 2006 and January 24, 2008; U-18 includes those born between January 25, 2008 and January 24, 2010; and U-16 covers players born between January 25, 2010 and January 24, 2012.


Participants are required to make their own arrangements for accommodation and food. Verification of age and documents and issuing of bibs will be conducted on December 17 at Ruovi’s The Palm, Model Village 5th Mile, Chümoukedima, from 12 pm to 2 pm.


Participation is voluntary, and athletes will compete at their own risk and responsibility.
