Nagaland Athletics Association to host 2nd Nagaland Junior Athletics Championships

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA) has announced that the 2nd Nagaland Junior Athletics Championships will take place on September 10 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima. The competition will be organised for boys and girls under the age categories of U-14, U-16 and U-18.

According to a press release issued by the NAA, the events for U-14 will include Triathlon (A) comprising 60m, long jump (5m approach) and high jump (scissor); Triathlon  with 60m, long jump (5m approach) and back throw (1kg Shot Put); and Triathlon  comprising 60m, long jump (5m approach) and 600m.

The U-16 category for boys and girls will feature 60m, 600m, high jump (scissor), long jump (5m approach) and shot put (4kg for boys and 3kg for girls). For U-18, boys will compete in 100m, 200m, 400m, 1000m, high jump, long jump and shot put (5kg), while girls will take part in 100m, 200m, 400m, 1000m, high jump, long jump and shot put (3kg).

District athletics associations that have successfully conducted their junior meets may send entries for participation, while entries from other sources will not be accepted. Athletes without a valid AFI-UID will not be eligible.

Participants in U-16 and U-18 can take part in a maximum of two events, while U-14 athletes can participate in one Triathlon event. Each district can send two entries per event in each age group.

The last date for registration is September 6, with a registration fee of INR 100 per event. Participants will have to arrange their own accommodation and food.

Promising athletes from the championship will be selected to represent Nagaland at the forthcoming 36th East Zone Junior Athletics Championships 2025.
