DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA) organised a javelin throw competition at Pilgrim Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, on the occasion of the 5th National Javelin Day, which is observed to commemorate Olympian Neeraj Chopra's historic gold medal victory at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Young athletes competed in the javelin throw competition during the occasion, said a press release from NAA.
Speaking on the occasion, Purna Konyak, Senior Joint Secretary of NAA, highlighted the significance of National Javelin Day, highlighting that it is observed to honour Neeraj Chopra's remarkable achievement and to promote the sport of javelin throw among young athletes.
He also expressed confidence that such competitions would encourage greater participation in athletics while helping identify and nurture emerging sporting talent in Nagaland.

· 2nd: Isuka Awomi
· 3rd: Ngaminhao Doungel
Under-16 Girls
· 1st: Ilika Achumi
The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners.
