Nagaland Strongman and Fitness Association athletes secure rankings for India at the 6th World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan.
DIMAPUR — Athletes from the Nagaland Strongman and Fitness Association (NSFA) represented India in Mas wrestling at the 6th World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan, recording notable finishes in their respective categories.
The four-member team was headed by Vizovolie Rame, Publicity Secretary of NSFA, as team manager. This marked the athletes’ first representation of India after the association received affiliation from the India Mas Wrestling Federation, according to an update.
In the Women’s 55 kg category, Vekhonielu Curha secured sixth rank, while Kekhriesetuo Mechulho finished 11th in the Men’s 90 kg category. Rukukhoto Khesoh secured 17th rank in the Men’s 90+ kg category.
The association expressed gratitude to Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for sponsoring the team and supporting its participation in the international event.
It also conveyed gratitude to the India Mas Wrestling Federation, the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, and all well-wishers for their support and encouragement.
MoU signed to host UWW World Belt Wrestling Championship
Meanwhile, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan, on September 6 for hosting the UWW World Belt Wrestling Championship 2026, featuring Alysh Wrestling and Naga Wrestling, with India proposed as the host country.
The agreement was signed by the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA), All India Traditional Wrestling and Pankration Federation (AITWPF), World Alysh Federation (WAF), and Asian Alysh Federation (AAF).
The proposed championship is tentatively scheduled to be held from December 14 to the 19th. The association described the agreement as a significant step towards bringing the championship to India and promoting Naga wrestling on the global stage.
