Dimapur, Oct. 17 (EMN):
Marking the conclusion of the second edition of Dimapur Art Festival, which began on October 15, ‘Nagaland Art Centre’ was inaugurated at IMC Hall by the pastor of Dimapur Christian Fellowship (DCF), Supong Jamir, on October 17.

Speaking at the inauguration programme, co-ordinator of Eastern Art Council Myingthungo Ababe Ezung said that the reason for opening the art centre was to provide a platform for artists and promote their arts. He stated that there are many talented artists but do not have the proper channel to showcase their arts.

Ezung stated that the only time to showcase their talents was during the Hornbill Festival. He added that in order to give more opportunity for the artists to showcase their work of arts, an art gallery was started at Super Market in 2019. He however stated that the gallery would now be operating at IMC Hall.

Ezung also informed that when the business was just picking up, they were made to close the shops for almost eight months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He added that they were almost at the brink of shutting down the art gallery at Super market.

He lauded Chuba Pongen for lending his helping hand by providing a space at IMC Hall in setting up the art gallery. He informed that besides the art gallery, a small cafe and a theatre would soon be set up.

He mentioned that the centre will organise workshops and skill development courses in the days to come. Stating that the Nagaland Art Centre was to benefit the people, he thanked the artists for their participating. He further informed that around 31 artists have participated and price range of the items starts from INR 3000 to INR 1.50 lakh.
