Kohima, May 5 (EMN): Nagaland is among the 10 Indian states that reported most Covid vaccine wastage, according to vaccine distribution (combining both vaccines) status for 45 years old and above as on May 5 at 8 am.
Nagaland stood in the ninth position with 4.13% wastage, registering 2,18,646 Covid vaccine consumption (including wastage) out of 3,26,440 doses received till date, while 1,07,794 doses are still available with the state.
The data provided by the ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed that Lakshadweep leads the pack with maximum Covid-19 vaccine wastage till date with 9.76%, followed by Tamil Nadu (8.83%), Assam (7.70%), Manipur (7.44%), Haryana (5.75%), Dadra and Nagar Haveli (4.99%), Punjab (4.98%), Bihar (4.95%), Nagaland (4.13%), and Meghalaya (4.01%).
Nagaland State Immunisation Officer, Dr. Ritu Thurr had informed a week ago that 5.6% of vaccine wastage had been recorded in the state against the national average of 6%.
The state’s Health department also informed that a total of 2,16,761 doses had been administered- 1,71,207 has taken the first dose and 45554 second dose.
Meanwhile, the Union Health ministry updated that the government of India has provided 17,02,42,410 vaccine doses (about 17.02 crore) to states and UTs free of cost and the total consumption, including wastage so far is 16,07,94,796 (about 16.07 crore) doses.
The Ministry further informed that 94,47,614 (about 94.47 lakh) Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states / UTs to be administered and 36,37,030 (about 36.37 lakh) more doses will be distributed within the next three days.
However, there’s no mention how much doses Nagaland state will receive.
