Dimapur, Nov. 18 (EMN): The Department Recruited Aggrieved Nurses (DRAN) 2021 has called off its sit-in dharna following assurance from the Health minister, S Pangnyu Phom, to look into their problem.
An update from DRAN informed that its representatives had an in-depth discussion on its grievances with the Health minister, who assured all possible assistance and early release of the pending salaries.
DRAN added that it has decided to suspend its ongoing dharna on the request of the Health minister.
It may be mentioned that the aggrieved nurses, who were recruited during the COVID-19 pandemic, has been protesting outside the Secretariat in Kohima since November 9, demanding the state government to regularise their service and release the pending salary of four months.
Yimkhiung Akheru Arihako (YAA), an apex student body of the Yimkhiung community, has extended support to the ongoing agitation of aggrieved nurses under the Department of Recruited Aggrieved Nurses (DRAN) 2021.
“The aggrieved nurses were recruited through the department authorised advertisement and put the task against COVID-19 during the time when the pandemic lockdown was overwhelming in the state. It is to state that COVID-19 had exposed those nurses to the most enduring conditions that threatened their health, well-being and faces numerous anxieties by the risk of exposing themselves and their families,” YAA stated.
YAA has urged the state government, concerned minister and the department to ensure due gratitude for the tremendous sacrifices and services the nurses had rendered during the time of pandemic by materialising their genuine demand and grievances through regularising their services.
