Dimapur, May 20 (EMN): The ACT Grants, through the initiative of Mon district administration, donated 5.6 lakh three ply cotton masks (Hanes brand) to Mon district. The mask can be reused for about 20 times.

Deputy Commissioner Mon, Thavaseelan K, informed that as per the 2011 census the population of Mon district was about 2.5 lakh and assuming that the population has grown over the years, 5.6 lakh of masks were ordered through ACT Grant, a non-profit coalition created by the Indian start-up ecosystem to fight the pandemic and drive change.

The DC said that the district administration facilitated distribution of masks to Peren district, while informing that the other districts in the state can also avail the donation through the ACT Grants.

He informed that two masks for each person are to be distributed across Mon district through various Churches and organisations. He also cautioned against any person selling the masks, adding that action would be taken against such act.

The distribution of the masks has been initiated and will be completed by May, he updated.

It may be noted that 819 oxygen concentrators were also delivered by the ACT Grants between May to September 2021 in Nagaland.
