Dimapur, April 30 (EMN): A total of 8,817 vehicles were registered in Nagaland within four months in 2022.
Showing a steady monthly growth, 1990 registrations were recorded in January, which increased to 2,133 in February, 2,213 in March and 2,481 in April.
Out of the 8,817 vehicles registered, 4,056 were transport vehicles and 4,761 non-transport vehicles. Heavy goods vehicles were the highest registered with 3,241, followed by light motor vehicles with 2,754, two wheeler (NT) with 1,875 and light goods vehicles with 418.
In the years 2021, 2020 and 2019, vehicle registrations were 21,888, 16,200 and 29,125 respectively.
In 2019, it decreased to 13.93% from the previous year's 33,840 vehicle registrations; it further decreased to 44.38% in 2020 with only 16,200 vehicle registrations, while it witnessed an increase of 35.115 with 21,888 in 2021.
According to the national vehicle registry VAHAN, a total of 71,314 vehicle permits have been issued in Nagaland till date, with 31,841 issued within the last four months (January to April 2022).
There was a significant increase in national permits, accounting for the highest number (30,504), from the previous year's total of 33,768 issued for the entire year.
However, in 2020, a total of 1,441 vehicle permits were issued, indicating a significant increase of 2243.37% in 2021 with 33,768 permits issued in the state, and the national permits category accounting for the highest number (31,148) once again.
Meanwhile, according to the VAHAN dashboard, a total of 3, 83, 348 vehicles have been registered in Nagaland till date.
