Dimapur, Jan. 4 (EMN): As many as 22, 874 fraudulent transactions were recorded at empanelled healthcare providers under the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) across the country during the year 2021-22.
The union minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, stated this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Friday.
Out of the total 22, 874 fraudulent transactions recorded at Empanelled Healthcare Providers as of January 31, 2022, Nagaland accounts for 38 such cases, according to the update from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Chandigarh recorded the highest number of fraudulent transactions with 6,785 confirmed cases, followed by Punjab with 5,487 and Jharkhand with 2,783. Puducherry and Tripura recorded lowest cases with one each, while Mizoram and Assam reported two cases each.
The private hospitals under AB-PMJAY are empanelled by states/UTs based on well-defined criteria laid down by National Health Authority (NHA) including minimum in-patient bed strength and speciality-wise infrastructure facilities like equipment and the average bed strength of hospitals empanelled under the scheme is 45.
As of January 28, 2022, about 8.5 lakh hospital admissions were authorised for the treatment of Covid-19 under the scheme. One hospital was authorised for such treatment in Nagaland during the financial year 2020-21 before the number was increased to 10 during FY 2021-22, stated the update.
