KOHIMA — The journey for this year’s Miss Kohima officially began with the sashing ceremony and orientation programme of the 20 finalists at Happy Food RestroCafe in Kohima on Saturday.
The programme was organised by 4FRONT Event Management under the theme "Beyond the crown".
Theja Sekhose, co-founder of 4FRONT Event Management in his keynote address expressed to the contestants that the day marks the beginning of a journey that will take them beyond the stage, photographs, applause, and ultimately, beyond the crown.
He opined that a crown is beautiful, title is prestigious, and sash can spread a vision, but none of this by themselves defines a woman. He reminded that the platform is for women themselves, develop their abilities, and understand the responsibility that comes with representation.

He said that they are looking for a woman who is willing to think, learn, participate, contribute, and lead, and a woman who understand that confidence is not simply about being comfortable in front of an audience.
Sekhose stated that confidence is having the courage to speak when their voice matters. He further encouraged the contestants by saying that the journey is about discovering the strongest, most authentic version of themselves.
He encouraged the contestants to understand, respect and carry the rich cultural diversity, history and identity while sharing that representing Nagaland should not only be about wearing traditional attire or speak about culture but also ensuring that identity continues to have a place in the future.
The finalists of Miss Kohima 2026 were sashed by Neilanuo Sachü, Miss Kohima 2025 First runner up.
The official grooming classes will be held from October 6 till the 10th with talent round on October 6, final rehearsal on October 12 and grand finale to be held on October 13.
