DIMAPUR — A 24-year-old Naga youth died after drowning during a picnic outing near Bengaluru on March 23.
The deceased has been identified as Kharei Awungshi Philemon. According to sources, the incident occurred around 11 am when he, along with about 12 friends and relatives, had gone to a water reservoir located around 160 km from Bengaluru.
He reportedly experienced exhaustion while swimming and drowned, although the water was not deep.

Philemon was living with his cousin’s family and working at a Titan showroom in Bengaluru.
Sources informed that formalities have been completed and the body will be flown to his native village, Choithar, in the Ukhrul district of Manipur, on March 25.
Meanwhile, the Naga Students’ Union Bengaluru (NSUB) condoled his death, stating that he would be remembered for his kindness, dedication and active involvement in community and youth activities.
The union conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.
